Basecamp Evaluation

Basecamp Evaluation

We evaluate Basecamp as a project management tool, using heuristic evaluation and case studies of actual users. Many of the challenges associated with groupware as identified by Grudin (1994) remain present in Basecamp and other project management software. While there have been some recent advances, more progress is needed before Basecamp and its competitors can effectively integrate with users' routines and for the distribtion of work and benefit to be appealing for many teams. In addition to these broader themes, we identify a number of key usability problems.
